MOOC Learning Online Week 8

The topic of week 8 of my course Introduction to Cyber Security was networking and communication, including a brief technical introdiction of The Internet, and mostly securing the connections, networks and standarts related to such activities.

I as a student of information studies unfortunatelly have not found anything new in the area of data transmition, datagrams or packets and overall firts technical chapter, but I really looked forward to the second one, where I learned a lot about securing a network.

The security part was dedicated a lot to WiFi, which consised of issues such as eavesdropping, interupting the data transmission or overflowing network with data. As a solution we can use encryption of our data.

As for the above mentioned standards, there is part dedicated to the TCP (how are data sent reliably on the internet - the journey) and IP (how are the data sent and received - the start and destination) protocols. The last chapter of this week's content is focusing on the WWW and HTTP/HTTPs.

In this week's course chapter I have realised, that in this couse I would appretiate more if the authors also looked into some "grey area of security", such as information shared for marketing purposes like personalised advertisement, which is not considered to be crime or generaly so dangerous, but it is a topic we talked a lot in school and we dedicated the most time to in this area. There is a rather brief mention that you should be careful what information you post publically, but unfortunately not mentioned the information you produce about yourself by simply existing and participace in ordinary activities in digital word.

I am sorry that this week's review is quite short, I already knew most of this chapter from school, but I really lok forward to next chapter - Cryptography.
